And, those are only SOME of the highlights!

Thursday – Welcome to Maine!

We’ve carefully chosen a quaint Maine town overlooking the scenic Kennebec River as your home-away-from-home.  This inviting little town combines a very scenic setting with easy access to some of Maine’s best riding.

When you check in, a Rolling Thru Maine representative will be there to facilitate the eastern-states-maine-coast-afprocess and make sure everything goes smoothly.  You’ll receive your Rolling Thru Maine package, with credentials, route maps (in case you decide to ride on your own), a tour shirt, and several goodies.

Freshen up, walk along the water front, and come and join us at the Rolling Thru Maine Welcome Dinner (included in your package) overlooking the water.  It’s a perfect time to make new friends as well as meet your tour guides, and hear about the highlights of the upcoming adventure. Best of all, we’ve put together one heck of a dinner:  Roasted Breast of Chicken with Basil, Prosciutto, Tomato and Garlic Stuffing or  Braised Haddock with Spiced Crumb Topping and Lemon Butter accompany of a medley of Zucchini, Summer Squash and Bell Peppers, Roasted Red Potato w/garlic and Rosemary, Assorted Cookies and Brownies.  Yum!

Friday – Maine by Land:  Coastal Riding at its Best – 160 miles:

Get ready for a great day of riding following a great breakfast (included in your package).  We’ve created the ideal route taking you along one of the most scenic coastal routes on the east coast.  Have your camera’s ready, because we’ll guide you along winding peninsula roads, periodically riding along the sea side, passing by and visiting lighthouses along the way.

Riding along bays and coves, over bridges and through peninsulas, and past picturesque rollin-thru-maine-2010-499fishing villages, you’ll arrive at a great lunch destination for a fabulous meal (included in your package).  Directly overlooking beautiful Penobscot Bay, with fantastic views, you’ll feast on Shrimp and Scallop Newburg, Roasted Rib Eye, Chicken Cacciatore, Baked Haddock Mornay or Baked Ham.  In the afternoon, we’ll take you to the top of a small mountain, whose views of the village and the sea will take your breath away.

Afterwards, we’ll stop in one of the most picturesque villages, giving you an opportunity to enjoy the unique and wonderful atmosphere Maine villages offer.  Shop, walk along the fishing piers, and enjoy a local treat, the Maine Whoopie Pie (so good, there’s a fan website for them).  We’ll take you to a special scenic area afterwards, whose views of the village and the sea will take your breath away.

When we return to the hotel late Friday afternoon, you’ll have the evening to yourself.  Quaint, charming, and only a block from your hotel, you’ll enjoy one of the many restaurants within walking distance, and soak up the Maine charm.

Saturday – By Land and By Sea to a Private Island – 160 miles:

Today’s route, following another great breakfast (included in your package), takes you inland to Maine’s lesser known gems, the Lakes District, then bringing you to your private cruise ship on the Atlantic, taking you to a feast on a private island.

In the morning, you’ll ride through the foothills of Maine’s mountain ranges, along countless serene lakes and shores.  The roads are reminiscent of Vermont, though with Lighthouse on a Rocky Coastlinea Maine twist.  Wonderful riding!

Following a light lunch (included in your package), you’ll head down to the lowlands, and arrive for the “sea” portion of today’s fun.

You’ll board a cruise ship, specially chartered for Rolling Thru Maine, which will take you on a tour of the islands and seashore of Maine.  You’ll arrive at a private island, where a lobster and seafood banquet awaits (included in your package)!

Following dinner, you’ll return to shore, where our guides will return you to your hotel as the sun sets.  What a day!

Sunday – See you Next Year! – 75 miles:

Join your Rolling Thru Maine friends at the Farewell Breakfast (included in your package), overlooking the waterfront.  Special awards will be presented, and photos of the weekend will be shown.

Following breakfast, there will be two guided groups departing headed either northwest (for our Canadian friends), and south west (for our Boston and NYC-area friends).  We’ll guide you for approx 75 miles, bringing you to a convenient location for you to continue home on your own.
